GENERAL RULES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS

 

1. Student or apprentices must not be licensed cosmetologists, manicurists or estheticians in respective competition. Student contestant must show written proof of registration as current or active student or apprentice.

2. Mannequins are the sole responsibility of the contestant.

 

Any contestant not conforming to the rules and regulations will be penalized or disqualified.

Contestant must furnish their own tools and accessories, including mirrors.

Contestants must sign a release form and also a form consenting to all publicity releases.

The Event management will not be held responsible for injuries, accidents, or lost apparatus or clothing.

Competition will be judged on the International 30 point system.

The decision of the judges and sages will be final.

Contestants and mannequins are to report to the competition area or each contest, at the posted time.

Contestants should be prepared to perform in the presence of background noise.

One chair per contestants {contestants responsible for booster for added height}

Contestants may be limited to entries based on space

Sages will monitor all contestants.

The management has the right to cancel any competition.

Any contest determined by the competition Committee to be receiving coaching from someone in the audience will be disqualified. The decision of the Committee is final and NOT debatable.

HAIR BY NIGHT

COMPETITION RULES COMPETITION TIME: 1 HOUR

The purpose of this competition is to stimulate the imagination of artists in the area of total fashion. The artists are encouraged to submit original and creative designs, execution, using ornamentation and or hairpieces if desired. All designs MUST be suitable for wear in a festive, gala atmosphere. THE ARTISTS MUST CREATE A HAIR BY NIGHT MANNEQUINN THAT PROJECTS TOTAL PACKAGE.

One hour will be given to complete the mannequin. One warning will be given. Sages will monitor this rule. After that, points will be deducted from the final score.

Contestant will supply their own female mannequin, tools, and equipment at their own expense.

Artists must report with mannequin, and hair for finishing styling. The mannequin’s hair may be prepared using any technique they wish. They will be dry, in or out of rollers, braided, extended, etc., but must not appear in any way to be pre-finished to the Sages. ALL FINSIHING MUST BE DONE DURING THE COMPETITION.

Hairpieces and ornaments are allowed. The base of the hairpiece may not exceed 1/3 of the total surface of the mannequin’s head. Hairpieces may be pre-done and must be placed on the table prior to the start so they may be inspected.

Mannequin’s will be evaluated in all aspects of the completed entry. Judges will consider Theme, Category, Workmanship, and Adaptability to the mannequin, and Contour.


TREND LADIES CUT

Mannequin only

DESIRED RESULT:

Cut, style and color on a mannequin

representing current mainstream consumer fashion

trends oriented to the younger consumer.

HAIR LENGTH:

Prior to the start of competition, the hair

length must be at least 4 inches all over the mannequin

head. A line and design change must be evident at finish

of cut.

PREPARATION OF HAIR:

The hair must be wet and combed straight back prior to the competition. The

Sage will wet hair again if necessary. No artificial hair is allowed.

CUTTING:

All cutting tools are allowed.

STYLING:

All styling tools are allowed. One electrical

outlet is provided with 1600 WATT maximum.

PRODUCTS:

All styling products are allowed.

COLOR:

Any color is allowed. Spray colors are forbidden.

MAKEUP/PAINT:

Mannequin makeup/painting of the face

is allowed and may be pre-done.

CLOTHING:

Mannequin dressing, make-up and accessories

must compliment the finished style. No props are

allowed.

COMPETITION TIME:

30 minutes

NOTE: Five minutes after each competition is allocated

to dress and accessorize the mannequin. Any clothing

must not extend below the bust. During judging, mannequins

are put on the holder affixed to the dressing tables.

Tripods may be used during the competition but must be

removed for judging.

Reminder:
Manikin must be thoroughly saturated with water and combed back neatly prior to competition.  Judges will be looking for total and complete originality in the finished style. It is not advised to refer to a photo of some else’s work.

AVANT-GARDE

 

     Two rules for avant-garde. Allowed :Time One Hour

 

   1. Hair pieces / extensions must not be pre-combed and must not cover more than one-third of the head.

                                                                        

   2. Jewelry / Ornamentation must not be placed on the manikin prior to competition.
